Word of the Week: Prayer

Pray for Us

1 Finally, brethren, pray for us, that the word of the Lord may run swiftly and be glorified, just as it is with you, 2 and that we may be delivered from unreasonable and wicked men; for not all have faith. 3 But the Lord is faithful, who will establish you and guard you from the evil one. 4 And we have confidence in the Lord concerning you, both that you do and will do the things we command you.5 Now may the Lord direct your hearts into the love of God and into the patience of Christ.

A. Prayer is COMMUNICATING with God.

B. Prayer is not a MONOLOGUE; prayer is a dialogue.

Romans 15:30 (NKJV)

30 Now I beg you, brethren, through the Lord Jesus Christ, and through the love of the Spirit, that you strive together with me in prayers to God for me,

Ephesians 6:18-19 (NKJV)

18 praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, being watchful to this end with all perseverance and supplication for all the saints— 19 and for me, that utterance may be given to me, that I may open my mouth boldly to make known the mystery of the gospel,

Philippians 1:19 (NKJV)

19 For I know that this will turn out for my deliverance through your prayer and the supply of the Spirit of Jesus Christ,

Colossians 4:3 (NKJV)

3 meanwhile praying also for us, that God would open to us a door for the word, to speak the [a]mystery of Christ, for which I am also in chains,

C. Prayer will DELIVER.

D. Prayer will OPEN doors.

2 Thessalonians 1:11-12 (NKJV)

11 Therefore we also pray always for you that our God would count you worthy of this calling, and fulfill all the good pleasure of His goodness and the work of faith with power, 12 that the name of our Lord Jesus Christ may be glorified in you, and you in Him, according to the grace of our God and the Lord Jesus Christ.

2 Thessalonians 2:16-17 (NKJV)

16 Now may our Lord Jesus Christ Himself, and our God and Father, who has loved us and given us everlasting consolation and good hope by grace, 17 comfort your hearts and [a]establish you in every good word and work.

E. I have a biblical responsibility to pray for the SAINTS

Isaiah 55:11 (NKJV)

11 So shall My word be that goes forth from My mouth;
It shall not return to Me [a]void,
But it shall accomplish what I please,
And it shall prosper in the thing for which I sent it.

F. The unfaithfulness of man can not stop the FAITHFULNESS of God.

G. Prayer establishes and GUARDS a believer from satanic oppression.

H. Prayer FRUSTRATES Satan’s plans.

1 Corinthians 10:13 (NKJV)

13 No temptation has overtaken you except such as is common to man; but God is faithful, who will not allow you to be tempted beyond what you are able, but with the temptation will also make the way of escape, that you may be able to [a]bear it.

Hebrews 2:18 (NKJV)

18 For in that He Himself has suffered, being [a]tempted, He is able to aid those who are tempted.

I. Prayers is a spiritual WEAPON.

Ephesians 6:12 (NKJV)

12 For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of [a]the darkness of this age, against spiritual hosts of wickedness in the heavenly places.

J. The saints have a biblical responsibility to pray for the me.
